Civic Education Instructor

The individual in this role is tasked with structuring and executing an educational framework for learners within a standard classroom environment, fulfilling the responsibilities of teaching as mandated by educational regulations and policies.


Key Responsibilities
The duties associated with this position encompass, but are not limited to:

1. Curriculum Development
a. Crafting the foundational educational program to align with the overarching educational philosophy of the district.
b. Engaging in ongoing professional development through educational workshops, site visits, professional reading, and collaborative discussions with colleagues.
c. Collaborating with fellow educators and departments to design and enhance the core educational program.

Instructional Delivery:

a.

Formulating educational strategies tailored to each student group based on assessed individual needs, in accordance with the district's mission, objectives, and standards.

b. Employing suitable assessment tools relevant to instructional areas to evaluate student advancement.
c. Developing lesson outlines for each assigned group or class.
d. Establishing and maintaining a classroom atmosphere that promotes effective learning.
e.

Utilizing diverse instructional methods and resources through individualized and/or group sessions to address the educational, social, and emotional requirements of students.

f. Implementing necessary precautions to safeguard students, materials, equipment, and facilities.
g. Participating in the in-school evaluation and screening processes as appropriate.
h. Aiding in the enforcement of school regulations, administrative guidelines, and district policies.
i. Assisting in the selection of educational resources, equipment, and other instructional materials.
j.

Engaging in personal professional development through continuous reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at accredited institutions.

Assessment and Communication:
a. Ensuring that each student in the program maintains necessary evaluation documentation in their permanent records.
b. Regularly assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to students and their guardians.
c. Delivering progress updates to school staff and parents as required.
d. Completing necessary reports for local, state, federal, and educational organizations.
e. Referring students needing further evaluation or support services to the appropriate personnel or community resources.
f. Attending and contributing to faculty meetings or other required gatherings.
g. Undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation – Teacher Pay Scale

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required, along with the ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Teaching License in the relevant subject area.
