Operating Practices Specialist

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct thorough investigations of train incidents and employee injuries.
  • Assist in the preparation of submissions in accordance with CFR 240, CFR 242, and CFR 217.9 regulations.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of Operating Practices Standards.
  • Help maintain and update Operating Rules and Practices, ensuring effective communication of changes.
  • Work collaboratively with various departments to enhance Regulatory and Safety Programs and initiatives.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of post-secondary education or relevant experience in the railroad industry.
  • Current certification in CFR 240 is mandatory.
  • DSLE designation is advantageous.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Locomotive Engineer or Conductor is required.
  • Strong analytical skills paired with excellent teamwork and communication capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal standards or a willingness to acquire such knowledge.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Locomotive Event Recorder software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple projects.
  • Dedication to supporting critical operations around the clock, including on-call responsibilities during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
