Job Overview

We are seeking a Lead Financial Accountant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision and Daily Operations

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, guiding junior accountants in processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Authorize disbursements, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
  • Manage payroll funding and ensure timely payments.
  • Coordinate with payroll service providers to facilitate payroll processing.
  • Administer the 401K program, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns.
  • Monitor expenditures against the monthly budget.
  • Direct staff in tracking asset additions and disposals on a monthly basis.
  • Resolve vendor disputes to maintain positive credit relationships.
  • Address inquiries related to tax compliance with the Sales & Marketing department and management, in collaboration with CPA.

Monthly Financial Closing and Reporting

  • Process customer invoices to close accounts receivable.
  • Complete monthly bookkeeping, including payroll, depreciation, and other adjustments.
  • Prepare and present various financial reports, including monthly financial statements to management.
  • Participate in monthly meetings to discuss financial performance and significant events impacting the company's financial status.

Quarterly Financial Activities

  • Compile and present quarterly financial data to headquarters for consolidated financial statements.
  • Finalize quarterly trial balances through necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with internal auditors regarding quarterly financial activities as needed.

Reporting to Senior Management

  • Verify quarterly transactions with the accounting department and finalize books.
  • Report quarterly and annual trial balances along with supporting documentation to headquarters.
  • Provide quarterly and annual profit and loss statements.
  • Confirm annual transactions with headquarters and finalize books.

Tax Compliance Responsibilities

  • Prepare various tax returns, including 1099 and sales & use tax returns.
  • Engage with external tax accountants to estimate federal and local corporate tax obligations.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of annual tax returns by external accountants.

Transfer Pricing Responsibilities

  • Gather and prepare financial data for transfer pricing documentation in collaboration with CPA and headquarters.

Business Planning and Budgeting

  • Contribute to business planning and the preparation of the annual budget.

Cash Management Duties

  • Monitor and forecast the company's cash position, reporting findings to management.
  • Address banking issues as they arise.

Audit Preparation

  • Prepare documentation and assist auditors with annual financial data as required.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Japanese is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, particularly MS Dynamics Solomon, is advantageous.
