Job Summary:

As a key member of our production team at Syntec Optics, the Manufacturing Specialist will be responsible for performing repetitive workstation or line assembly operations to mass-produce components or to assemble those components. The ideal candidate will follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Machine Operation: Operate injection molding machines to produce high-quality components.
  • Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections of molded components to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Production Reporting: Complete required production reports, including cycle times, number of scrap, and downtime.
  • Material Inspection: Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the floor lead or department supervisor.
  • Procedure Adherence: Follow written documentation and procedures for specific jobs.
  • Component Preparation: Trim, de-gate, and/or clip parts as needed.
  • Insert Reclamation: Assist in reclaiming inserts.
  • Packaging and Preparation: Prepare packaging for the following shift operator.
  • Task Completion: Complete tasks as directed by production schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, adhering to prescribed safety regulations.
  • Machine Familiarity: Be familiar with the basic machine function to perform the tasks stated above.
  • Data Entry: Enter production data into IQMS.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Special Projects: When requested, may work on special projects and various related assignments.
  • Area Flexibility: May be required to work in various areas of production.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk, hear, and use machinery. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must adhere to all safety precautions, including wearing appropriate safety equipment.

Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year factory-related experience.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Math Skills: Math skills.
