Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Customer Service Manager Trainee to join our team at Hannaford Supermarkets. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for managing retail operations, building associate and customer relations, and promoting a strong culture in support of our company strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage retail operations for assigned departments, making decisions that impact store associates, merchandise quality, and customer service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with associates and customers, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure store conditions, including appearance, security, safety, and food safety, are consistently maintained at the highest level.
  • Accountable for proper control of company assets and ensure accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
  • Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of assigned department associates, providing recognition of accomplishments and constructive counseling when necessary.
  • Develop product knowledge in all areas of assigned departments and use company tools, such as MPP, financial reports, and business information systems, to maximize profitability and minimize shrink.
  • Ensure operational and merchandising standard practices are followed, maintaining solid communication with the management team and all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Requirements
  • Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
  • College degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company-provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
  • Meet established volume and fixed activity standards.
Preferred Requirements
  • Assist in attaining financial objectives, including sales, payroll percent, gross margin, shrink, and MPP net percent effectiveness.
  • Foster a sales-driven, consumer-focused culture through relationship building and promoting an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness.
  • Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect, providing recognition of accomplishments and constructive counseling when necessary.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the store's appearance and presentation, ensuring quality conditions of all products.
  • Manage performance of duties and responsibilities of all assigned department associates, making hiring, training, and performance management recommendations as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, including overhead lifting and up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.
  • Meet established volume and fixed activity standards.
