Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our Mission Critical team. As a key member of our team, you'll lead structural design project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments. Your expertise will be essential in adapting structural plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion, ensuring project needs and requirements are met.
  • Prepare structural equipment specifications, data sheets, and technical bid summaries, and provide purchase recommendations.
  • Review structural vendor drawings, interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines, and detailers.
  • Participate in project schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning, and manage change orders effectively.
  • Apply expert knowledge of structural concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the structural engineering services industry.
  • Develop non-standard design solutions for complex projects, and apply knowledge and experience to find innovative solutions.
  • Conduct quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts, and identify key pursuits.
  • Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve financial performance targets.
  • Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates, and report project performance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the structural engineering practice, and mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes, and communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
  • Comply with company and site safety policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program, and 7 years of structural engineering experience, or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures, and strong knowledge of structural design codes (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7).
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading the discipline design for large projects, delegating work tasks to team members, and resolving issues in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Ability to travel, with a minimum of 25% of the time.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
