Position Overview: This position is centered around conducting regular site inspections, documenting progress, gathering data, and addressing any issues that arise. The role involves close collaboration with the design team and field personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with on-site activities to ensure compliance with architectural plans, specifications, and construction quality standards; this includes taking field measurements, drafting requests for information (RFIs), and providing as-built documentation or other construction administration tasks.
  • Facilitate structural design coordination within multidisciplinary project teams, including Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) professionals.
  • Utilize engineering judgment to make informed technical assumptions and independently complete assigned tasks.
  • Effectively communicate essential activities and critical submissions to stakeholders, engineering teams, and vendors.
  • Assist in construction management through change orders, quantity takeoffs, and progress tracking.
  • Provide engineering and architectural design insights to support construction efforts.
  • Identify and report opportunities for enhancements in detail, design, and constructability to the engineering teams.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor the progress of construction projects with structural components, identify any deficiencies or non-compliance with construction documents, and relay these issues to the design engineer and construction manager overseeing the project.
  • Engage directly with the construction superintendent and foremen.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in the construction sector, with a focus on structural systems.
  • Knowledge of US building regulations and structural design standards.
  • Field-based role requiring regular site observations and monitoring of construction progress.
  • Experience in reporting progress to engineers and designers.
  • Extensive collaboration with contractors.
  • Ability to navigate construction drawings and ensure safety compliance.
  • Experience with Steel construction is a top priority, including both concrete and steel.
  • Proficiency in Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with a technical mindset, while also capable of understanding the broader project context.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to rapidly changing project demands and timelines.
  • Commitment to maintaining standards and promptly escalating issues as necessary.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience in the structural design of buildings for high-tech infrastructure, industrial, or operational facilities.
  • Familiarity with Revit Structural.
  • Registered and in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience with reading and/or developing construction schedules (e.g., Primavera P6).
  • Working proficiency in Spanish.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Safety Certification.
  • Experience conducting inspections of concrete and steel structures.
