Tennessee Advocates for Planned Parenthood (TAPP) is a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to promoting and safeguarding informed individual choices regarding reproductive health care. Our mission encompasses advocating for public policies that ensure the right to choose and access to comprehensive reproductive health services, while fostering a supportive social and political environment for reproductive care.
Position Overview:
TAPP is enhancing our statewide advocacy framework to defend our mission and cultivate a sustainable voice for reproductive and sexual health within a progressive social justice movement. This initiative aims to strengthen community ties and elevate statewide awareness, presenting a remarkable opportunity for professional growth.
COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT FOR CANDIDATES:
As a healthcare provider and participant in Medicare/Medicaid, PPTNM mandates that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and its variants. Candidates must provide proof of vaccination by their start date, with reasonable accommodations considered on a case-by-case basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate community engagement in Memphis by mobilizing supporters to participate in advocacy initiatives, including phone banking and canvassing.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities using the Voter Activation Network database.
- Expand Planned Parenthood's supporter network by gathering information at community events.
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers for various advocacy activities.
- Achieve weekly and quarterly performance metrics while thriving under pressure.
- Develop a robust volunteer base and local understanding for Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts.
- Organize and promote weekly volunteer events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Engage regularly with the Affiliate Data Manager and Campaign Organizer through in-person or phone communication.
- Provide weekly activity summaries via email to the Affiliate Data Manager, Campaign Organizer, and TAPP Director.
- Submit monthly Effort Reports detailing c3 and c4 activities.
- Adhere to confidentiality policies regarding staff and volunteer information.
- Previous organizing experience is preferred (paid, volunteer, or internship).
- Familiarity with VoteBuilder and MiniVan is advantageous.
- Availability for intensive work in the lead-up to elections is essential.
- Strong training capabilities are required.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, particularly during election periods.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
- Access to reliable transportation is necessary, as travel is part of the role.
- A positive attitude and a strong commitment to pro-reproductive health advocacy across Tennessee are essential.
