About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Development Manager to join our team at Hormel Foods Corporation. As a key member of our sales organization, you will be responsible for driving category growth and developing strategic business plans to achieve this goal.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and present annual strategic business plans focused on category growth with Hormel Brands
  • Provide periodic and ad-hoc reporting on market and product issues, including assortment optimization, new item volume transfer, market share, shelving and aisle tests, pricing and promotions, and ROM and key competitor performance
  • Collaborate with category management leaders, marketing, and consumer insights to review resources, document voids and opportunities, create action plans, and present strategic solutions to key customers
  • Conduct competitive and marketplace intelligence analysis and reporting, including share gap and price gap reporting, and market visits to determine competitive retailer strategies and tactics
  • Develop and utilize category management insights to generate business development strategies and tactics, and help drive Hormel's overall brand development
  • Provide category management talent development for direct reports and coach and mentor new employees
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of sales/marketing/analytics experience
  • Pattern of initiative and independent leadership
  • Strong technical skills using tools such as Excel, IRi, Panel, customer POS, Nielsen ASO, etc.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead in a team environment on complex projects
  • Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Citizen or National of the United States, lawful permanent resident, or authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of category management, sales, marketing, or sales strategy experience
  • Previous experience with 84.51 is a plus
