Position Overview
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and management of patients experiencing respiratory issues. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including overseeing respiratory therapy students and ensuring the effective execution of all respiratory care techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of lung function and analyze arterial blood gases using specialized equipment.
- Administer prescribed therapies and monitor patient responses in accordance with established care plans.
- Review and refine respiratory care protocols based on patient outcomes and current clinical research.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, assessing patient conditions and delivering necessary interventions.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding respiratory conditions and available community resources.
- Manage inventory of respiratory supplies and ensure proper storage of medical gases.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment through regular disassembly, sterilization, and preventive maintenance.
- Work effectively in neonatal care settings.

Qualifications
Education: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent program required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Skills: Strong critical thinking abilities, decisive judgment, and capacity to operate independently in high-pressure situations.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications must be obtained within three months of hire.
Licenses: A valid North Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner license is required.
Experience: A minimum of three years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is preferred.
