Job Summary:

Primary Recruiting Services is seeking a highly skilled Health and Environmental Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

• Collaborate with operations teams to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• 3+ years of experience in a safety or environmental role
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with established safety procedures and OSHA regulations
• Facilitate and manage the employee safety program and site contractor orientations
• Lead daily safety meetings, conduct regular site safety meetings, and provide site orientations for contractors and visitors
• Conduct routine walk-downs to perform housekeeping inspections, identify potential hazards, and discuss safety issues directly with workers
• Maintain and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure the safe handling and disposal of chemicals
• Respond to incidents, including injuries and near misses, by investigating and preparing reports, identifying causes, and recommending corrective actions. Follow-up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Manage and oversee the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, and Emergency Response Programs, ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during safety-related inspections or inquiries.
• Ensure that Operations and Maintenance teams comply with safety and regulatory requirements, including maintaining and submitting necessary documentation.
• Maintain key components of the company's Environmental Management System (EMS), including safety and regulatory training records.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain and execute facility procedures to address spill prevention, control, and countermeasures, including:
• Operating procedures to prevent spills of oil and chemicals.
• Control measures to prevent spills from reaching navigable waters.
• Countermeasures for spill containment and cleanup
• Develop and follow procedures for handling wastewater and water sampling to maintain compliance with NPDES guidelines.
• Interface with local environmental regulators by preparing for inspections, responding to information requests, and assisting with permit renewals and modifications.
• Maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS), including the EHS filing system, Obligations Tracking System (OTS), and regulatory training records.
