Job Summary:
A Digital Engineering Strategist is sought to join the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in a challenging and impactful role. This position requires expertise in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering (DE), with a focus on developing and deploying cutting-edge capabilities for nationally important defense programs.

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to provide advanced MBSE expertise in developing system models, architecture frameworks, and systems engineering processes for strategic deterrence capabilities. The successful candidate will have a strong background in systems thinking, MBSE, and DE, with experience working on complex systems and requirements analysis. Additionally, they should be proficient in MagicDraw modeling software, including its Cameo variants, and DOORS requirements software.

Main Responsibilities:
This role involves providing systems engineering thought leadership and expertise to the development and evaluation of complex strategic deterrent systems and supporting infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
  • Applying systems engineering expertise on requirements analysis, concept/technology development, architecture analysis, risk assessments, and test & evaluation for strategic deterrent systems
  • Developing model profiles, tool plug-ins, architecture frameworks, and model queries in MBSE tools that capture and analyze models of the systems being developed throughout their lifecycle
  • Delivering formal presentations to sponsors and supporting contractors, effectively communicating proposed concepts/solutions and analysis results

Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field
  • Experience performing systems engineering in the design, development, and/or evaluation of complex systems
  • Strong experience in system modeling using UML/SysML and associated modeling software
  • Broad systems engineering experience, including early concept development, requirements analysis, design, test and evaluation, and risk assessment
  • An active Top Secret security clearance
