General Overview:
The Registered Ultrasound Technologist is accountable to the Immediate Supervisor and utilizes advanced ultrasound technology to discern anatomical structures and potential related pathologies. This role embodies the core values and philosophies of Parrish Medical Center.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Delivers comprehensive Diagnostic Medical Sonography services adhering to established protocols. Exhibits proficiency in all procedures relevant to the Scope of Practice, tailored to the various age demographics of patients, including Neonate, Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.
- Facilitates ultrasound guidance and support to Radiologists and/or Staff Physicians during sterile invasive interventions.
- Ensures the quality of examinations by gathering relevant medical histories and discussing findings with the Radiologist as necessary.
- Conducts quality imaging by employing appropriate immobilization techniques, selecting suitable technical parameters, and reviewing images with the Radiologist prior to patient discharge, when clinically warranted.
- Assists in the procurement and management of pharmaceuticals, sterile and non-sterile supplies, and equipment. Directs special requests to the Lead Sonographer as needed, while maintaining cleanliness and preparation of the examination room between patients.
- Engages in effective communication with fellow Care Partners, Patients, their Families, Nursing Staff, and Physicians regarding physician orders, including explanations of procedures, expected wait times, and clarifications for any delays.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Associate's degree, ADN, or equivalent from a Two-Year College is mandatory.
Professional Experience:
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must hold current registration from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OBGYN or AB, or from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Sonography (ARRT)(S) in RT(S), RT(VS), RVT, or RVS upon hire.
- BCLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
