Job Summary

Fresenius Medical Care North America is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pre-Licensed Dialysis Staff to join our team. As a Pre-Licensed Dialysis Staff, you will play a critical role in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform vascular access evaluation pre-treatment and record results.
  • Conduct pre and post-dialysis evaluations, including vital signs and initial identification.
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and report any difficulties or unusual findings to the nurse supervisor.
  • Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, including blood flow and dialysate flow.
  • Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.
  • Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy.
  • Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and perform all relevant functions necessary for treatment discontinuation.
  • Evaluate patients prior to termination of venous access and obtain hemostasis.
  • Document information related to patient treatment, including documentation in the patient health record.
  • Report any significant information or changes in patient condition directly to the nurse supervisor.
  • Perform and document interventions for unusual patient status and document patients' response to intervention.
  • Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing and prepare specimens for collection.
Requirements
  • Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Ability to obtain nursing license within 90 days of employment.
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.

The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.

The position provides direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting and moving of patients, and assisting with ambulation. Equipment aids and/or coworkers may provide assistance. This position requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the employee must be able to bend over.
