Machinist II Job Description

At General Dynamics, we are seeking a highly skilled Machinist II to join our team. As a Machinist II, you will be responsible for completing a wide range of complex support tasks with minimal supervision by applying extensive knowledge in a specialized function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and execute machining operations to manufacture parts with close tolerances and critical finishes in ID, OD, and spherical radii.
  • Operate CNC-based and conventional machinery, lathes, mills, and grinding machines.
  • Monitor machine operations to determine whether adjustments are required and adjust as necessary.
  • Verify, inspect, and measure parts to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
  • Perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning machines and work areas.
Requirements:
  • Machinist Certification preferred or 6 years of related experience.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, etc.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the application of geometric tolerance symbols.
  • Solid ability to read and follow instructions, including Engineering and CAD drawings.
