Electrical Systems Specialist

Job Title: VESDA Certified Electrician
Location: Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Contract
We are seeking a skilled and experienced VESDA Certified Electrician to work with fire detection systems, ensuring safety compliance, and collaborating with other technicians and engineers to complete projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in accordance with electrical codes and standards.
- Install, test, and commission VESDA fire detection systems in various types of buildings and facilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair VESDA systems, identifying and addressing issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure all VESDA systems are compliant with safety regulations and codes.
- Work with blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to determine the layout and installation of VESDA systems and other electrical equipment.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on VESDA and other electrical systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, safety personnel, and other technicians to ensure timely and safe completion of projects.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including service logs, installation reports, and test results.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring a hazard-free work environment.
- Stay updated on the latest VESDA technology, industry standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Valid electrician license/certification.
- VESDA certification is required.
- 5+ years of experience as an electrician, with specific experience in fire detection systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of local and national electrical codes and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with various tools, equipment, and testing devices used in electrical work.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in commercial, industrial, or residential environments.
- Knowledge of other fire alarm systems or experience with other smoke detection technologies.
- Additional certifications in fire safety or electrical work.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces or at heights as needed.
- Comfortable with standing, bending, climbing, and other physical activities throughout the workday.
