Job Title: Billing Supervisor

Kingman Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Billing Supervisor to join our Patient Financial Services team.

Job Summary:

The Billing Supervisor will assist the CBO Billing Manager in planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the systems for patient insurance billing information. This includes ensuring timely, courteous, and accurate behavior of staff providing these services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise processes, systems, and staff responsible for Payer Enrollment with insurance plans.
  • Perform Quality Control in all areas of billing and payer enrollment, ensuring unbilled accounts are handled and moved through the financial process.
  • Ensure staff receive comprehensive training and resources to correct errors prior to billing.
  • Maintain positive interaction with staff and departments to advise and assist with Patient Financial Services Billing Team requirements.
  • Develop and revise job descriptions for billing team positions as needed, assist with interviews, selection, and hiring of new or replacement staff.
  • Deal effectively, courteously, and professionally with reporting staff, peers, and superiors, as well as patients and visitors.
  • Effectively utilize positive reinforcement to motivate staff and instill confidence.
  • Effectively supervise employee improvement and corrective action methods when necessary.
  • Schedule work hours and assignments for employees of the billing team to meet departmental customer needs.
  • Administer hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Assist with employee appraisals and personnel action requests.
  • Provide opportunities for self and staff development through orientation, in-services, education, and needed training.
  • Assist Billing Manager with regular staff meetings to provide communication, direction, and education.
  • Provide/coordinate community and education programs as needed.
  • Respond to physician requests, monitor the effectiveness of the billing team's services, and maintain a rapport with Medical Staff members and their office personnel.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the department.
  • Evaluate the billing team's performance according to current industry principles to maintain and improve the level of service and results for patients.
  • Bill claims to payers in the event of employee shortage or claims backlog.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Three (3) years' experience in insurance billing, including electronic transmission of claims, and one (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of claims reimbursement, typing and computer experience, verbal and numerical intelligence, ability to interact with the public, and ability to motivate people and utilize resources in an organized manner.
Preferences:
  • Some college.
  • Experience in a clinic or hospital business setting.
Special Position Requirements:
  • Blood Borne Disease Exposure Category: Category III.
Work Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for six to seven hours daily at a computer terminal.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 15 pounds of files to storage area.
  • Must be able to deal calmly and effectively with frustrated and/or angry clients.
