Job Overview

Position Type: Per Diem - 7a - 3:30p or 8:30a - 5:00p for PTO coverage

SUMMARY:

The role involves delivering exceptional pharmaceutical services while adhering to the legal frameworks set by federal and state regulations, as well as the Montana State Board of Pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations:

  • Oversee and facilitate the distribution of medications.
  • Accurately review and authorize medication and prescription requests.
  • Ensure proper verification of technician order entries in accordance with established protocols.
  • Report and evaluate any suspected Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs).
  • Adhere to formulary management guidelines.
  • Engage in drug information dissemination and patient/family education.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the annual budget.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Pharmacy Manager.

Safety Protocols:

  • Comply with safety regulations at St. John's United.
  • Identify and address safety hazards promptly.
  • Participate in mandatory safety training sessions.
  • Utilize correct body mechanics during stock handling.

Customer Service Commitment:

  • Embrace and promote the Eden Alternative philosophy, fostering a workplace enriched with nature.
  • Adhere to St. John's Customer Service Guidelines.

Employee Duties:

  • Follow policies regarding annual TB testing and influenza vaccinations.
  • Attend all required in-service training.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Pharmacist(s).
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, or Master of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution. Current Montana Licensure is mandatory.

  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Familiarity with Medical Terminology.
  • Strong observational skills.
  • Professional interaction with residents, families, medical staff, and colleagues.
  • Competence in sorting, checking, counting, and verifying numerical data.
  • Proficient in computer operations.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate technician activities.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Timely and professional response to resident needs, respecting their rights.
  • Understanding and adherence to safety policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements: The position requires moderate physical activity, including regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds, along with bending, standing, and reaching.

Work Environment:

  • Minimal exposure to hazards, bloodborne pathogens, or physical risks, necessitating adherence to basic safety measures.
  • Typical healthcare setting.
  • Exposure to plants and animals within the work environment.
