Position Overview:
The Continuous Improvement Director will spearhead the establishment and execution of a pioneering Continuous Improvement (CI) framework within our distribution sector. The ideal candidate will champion initiatives focused on boosting operational effectiveness, minimizing waste, and cultivating a mindset of continuous enhancement across the organization. This position demands a profound comprehension of CI methodologies, statistical analysis, and outstanding leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and deploy a thorough continuous improvement strategy tailored to the unique requirements of the distribution operations.
- Set CI objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and metrics that align with the organization's strategic goals.
- Design and implement a strategic roadmap for CI initiatives, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and resource allocation.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing CI team, promoting a culture of teamwork, innovation, and ongoing learning.
- Guide and support CI team members in applying Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies effectively.
- Advocate for CI initiatives at all organizational levels, inspiring and engaging employees to adopt continuous improvement practices.
- Identify and evaluate critical processes within the distribution operations, utilizing tools such as value stream mapping, process mapping, root cause analysis, 5S, Gemba, and standard work.
- Lead cross-functional teams in executing CI projects aimed at waste reduction, quality enhancement, and overall operational efficiency improvement.
- Employ statistical analysis and data-driven methods to uncover improvement opportunities and assess the impact of CI initiatives.
- Develop and conduct CI training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring a solid understanding of CI principles and tools.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement through ongoing education, workshops, and practical training sessions.
- Mentor and coach staff to build internal CI capabilities and ensure sustainability.
- Establish and maintain systems for monitoring the progress and impact of CI initiatives.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting significant achievements, challenges, and future objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or a related discipline.
- Over 10 years of experience in a continuous improvement role within a distribution context.
- At least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Proficiency in Minitab, Smartsheets, PowerBI, and Visio, or similar software.
- Demonstrated success in leading CI initiatives and achieving measurable outcomes.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Experience in project management and the capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Familiarity with Lean distribution principles and tools.
