Job Summary

Become part of a dynamic organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of diverse communities. As an Athletic Trainer with UNC Health, you will play a critical role in preventing, assessing, treating, and rehabilitating athletic injuries in a physician extender role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective athletic training programs for Clayton High School Athletics.
  • Provide first aid and injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for student-athletes.
  • Coordinate annual required athletic physicals and supervise clearance of injured athletes.
  • Maintain a line of communication with the team physician regarding athletic healthcare and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
  • Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport-specific conditioning programs and methods.
  • Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.
  • Communicate with parents on the care and treatment of their student-athlete.
  • File necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
  • Maintain a daily treatment log.
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment for the athletic training room.
  • Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment.
  • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
  • Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school's coaching staff.
  • Provide casting and patient care services, including splinting, bracing, and crutching.
  • Manage disability cases, including answering patient clinical phone calls and completing disability paperwork.
  • Provide patient education on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercise.
  • Room and obtain necessary patient information for updating patient history and charts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification.
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners or license eligible.
  • BLS for healthcare providers.
  • One year of experience as an athletic trainer preferred.
Work Environment

This position is employed by NC Health, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. This is not a State employed position.
