Athletic Trainer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team at UNC Health Care. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical athletic training services to our patients, including injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and implement effective athletic training programs for our patients.
- Provide first aid and injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services to our patients.
- Coordinate annual required athletic physicals and supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during sports seasons.
- Maintain a line of communication with the team physician regarding athletic healthcare and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
- Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport-specific conditioning programs and methods.
- Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.
- Communicate with parents on the care and treatment of their student athlete.
- File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
- Maintain a daily treatment log.
- Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory.
- Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
- Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads, and braces.
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school's coaching staff.
- Casting and patient care services, including casting patients, providing splints, braces, crutches, and other DME, and providing patient education for these items.
- Disability cases, including answering patient clinical phone calls in a timely manner and completing disability paperwork.
- Patient education, including educating patients on home exercise programs and therapeutic exercise, and communicating effectively with patients and staff members.
- Patient information, including rooming and obtaining necessary patient information to update the patient history and chart, reviewing clinic schedules and charts to verify all appropriate test results or patient information related to the appointment have been received, ordering appropriate x-ray, lab, or other medical tests as indicated, and performing a thorough medical history and appropriate physical examination on patients with appropriate documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification.
- Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners or license eligible.
- BLS for healthcare providers.
- One (1) year of experience as an athletic trainer preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the use of relevant medical terminology.
