Position Overview

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) is seeking a committed Program Manager to spearhead the English Language Arts (ELA) initiatives within the Office of Teaching and Learning. This pivotal role involves overseeing the ELA program and guiding a team of dedicated ELA specialists. The primary responsibilities include:

Core Responsibilities

  • Leading the development and execution of statewide English Language Arts standards
  • Ensuring adherence to state regulations and guidelines pertinent to ELA
  • Collaborating with various educational organizations to synchronize curriculum efforts and meet program goals
  • Organizing and facilitating professional development opportunities for ELA educators and administrators
  • Designing and enhancing resources to bolster ELA instruction in alignment with statewide standards
  • Coordinating professional learning sessions, both virtually and in-person
  • Formulating program plans, guidelines, and assessing their effectiveness
  • Providing technical support to educational institutions and schools
  • Efficiently managing program budgets and contracts
  • Staying updated on the latest research and trends in the field
  • Evaluating program outcomes and offering recommendations for enhancements

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Doctorate in a relevant educational discipline or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in managing online resources and professional learning frameworks
  • A strong foundation in K-12 English Language Arts
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ELA standards and literacy instruction
  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering professional learning in various formats
  • Previous experience in budget oversight and contract management
  • Outstanding presentation and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Note: Frequent travel within the state is a requirement. Candidates must possess the necessary certification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) to be eligible for consideration.
