Position Overview
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) is seeking a committed Program Manager to spearhead the English Language Arts (ELA) initiatives within the Office of Teaching and Learning. This pivotal role involves overseeing the ELA program and guiding a team of dedicated ELA specialists. The primary responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
- Leading the development and execution of statewide English Language Arts standards
- Ensuring adherence to state regulations and guidelines pertinent to ELA
- Collaborating with various educational organizations to synchronize curriculum efforts and meet program goals
- Organizing and facilitating professional development opportunities for ELA educators and administrators
- Designing and enhancing resources to bolster ELA instruction in alignment with statewide standards
- Coordinating professional learning sessions, both virtually and in-person
- Formulating program plans, guidelines, and assessing their effectiveness
- Providing technical support to educational institutions and schools
- Efficiently managing program budgets and contracts
- Staying updated on the latest research and trends in the field
- Evaluating program outcomes and offering recommendations for enhancements
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Doctorate in a relevant educational discipline or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in managing online resources and professional learning frameworks
- A strong foundation in K-12 English Language Arts
- Comprehensive knowledge of ELA standards and literacy instruction
- Demonstrated expertise in delivering professional learning in various formats
- Previous experience in budget oversight and contract management
- Outstanding presentation and communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Note: Frequent travel within the state is a requirement. Candidates must possess the necessary certification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) to be eligible for consideration.
