We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Community Lending Officer to join our team at BankNewport. As a key member of our mortgage origination team, you will be responsible for identifying and developing residential loan opportunities in assigned territories, providing lending services to low to moderate income communities, and promoting awareness and education on new home ownership financing.
Key Responsibilities- Originate residential loan products within Providence territory to meet sales and service goals, providing quality customer service throughout the mortgage origination process.
- Provide outreach and awareness to community members regarding affordable home loan programs, conducting interviews with prospective borrowers, analyzing credit and financial information, and completing mortgage loan applications.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local referral networks, including real estate brokers, attorneys, builders, and other related professionals, to promote BankNewport's products and services and increase sales opportunities.
- Participate in local community and business organizations to promote BankNewport and conduct periodic educational seminars for potential borrowers and realtors.
- Comply with all Federal and State compliance policies and HMDA requirements, maintaining strong knowledge and understanding of all Regulatory and Compliance guidelines that govern residential lending.
- Minimum three years of progressively responsible mortgage origination/sales experience.
- Spanish speaking required.
- Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in specialized coursework and training.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mortgage lending functions involving financial statement analysis, credit risk, installment lending, and general business finance.
- Working knowledge of BankNewport's products and services.
- Proficient with computers and Outlook, with the ability to become proficient in various other software applications.
- Strong time management skills, excellent communications, negotiation, and organization skills, and proven sales ability.
- Valid driver's license and knowledge of community lending services, including Federal Housing Administration products.
