Job Title: Roofing Superintendent

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Roofing Superintendent to lead our commercial roofing service team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple service foremen, ensuring safe and productive work practices, and delivering high-quality results to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to foremen, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and discipline to achieve efficient and professional roof system installations.
  • Ensure consistently high-quality service and results, meeting company and customer standards.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner, interacting with customers, personnel, and the public.
  • Effectively manage all aspects of service field work to meet company and project goals.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supervise foremen to lead safe and efficient roof system installations.
  • Oversee field staff, assisting foremen with crew leadership.
  • Visit job sites daily to ensure compliance with safety protocols and project progress.
  • Conduct or participate in daily safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances, and assist with discipline when necessary.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews to evaluate team members' performance and provide feedback.
  • Ensure production and quality goals are met, and track labor hours and production against stated targets.
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and deliveries, prioritizing the use of inventoried materials.
  • Monitor material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages, and order materials as needed.
  • Monitor the quality of installations and ensure they meet company standards.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Review plans and sites, delegate crews, and perform pre-job planning, including creating site-specific safety plans and work plan efficiencies.
  • Ensure crews have the necessary information and instructions to complete jobs.
  • Submit reports and paperwork, coordinating communication between the office and job sites.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, accidents, and thefts, providing relevant documentation to the office.
  • Participate in final inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to be a team player, providing feedback and support to colleagues.
  • Make timely decisions, prioritizing safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, plus five (5) years of experience in a commercial roofing environment.
  • Considerable knowledge of various commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Safety Training: OSHA 30-Hour Card.
  • Good knowledge of state and local building codes, including Uniform Building Code, and electrical and plumbing codes.
  • Experience determining roof types and estimating materials, hours, and replacement costs for commercial roofing projects.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and specifications, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to compute rate, ratio.

Physical Demands:

  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry between 15 and 50 pounds.
  • Ability to twist, reach, bend, stoop, and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to be on your feet, load trailers, and move to and from the trailer and staging area of equipment and material.
  • Must be able to tilt material or equipment, stack material as needed, and roll on a hand truck to a designated area and place on the floor, ground, or in a trailer without harm to themselves or material or equipment.
  • Must be physically able to mount and dismount our lifts, trucks, or tractors numerous times throughout the day.
  • Ability to push or pull up to 150 pounds, such as a loaded wheelbarrow.
  • Ability to work on and climb ladders up to 40 feet tall or scaffolding.
  • Ability to keep or regain body balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
  • Ability to work in a working environment that is loud and noisy.
  • Ability to work in an environment with fumes, dust, dirt, smoke, gases, grease, and oils, and solvents.
  • Ability to be aware of surrounding areas due to working at high levels and with hot products.
  • Manual dexterity to complete projects in a craftsman fashion.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow safety practices and procedures used in working on ladders and roofs.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions year-round with exposure to excessive heat and cold.
  • Must be physically able to mount and dismount ladders from trucks or storage above a person's head.

Employment Classification: Full Time Salaried Exempt
