As the primary agency for public safety in Georgia, DBHDD manages multiple field offices and hospitals across the state, focusing on three key program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and hospital services. The main office is situated in downtown Atlanta.

Position Title:
Client Support Worker (2nd Shift) - Community Integration Home (CIH)

Employment Type:
Full-Time (Up to 40 hours weekly) (3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Second Shift (Weekends))

Position Overview:

The selected candidate will undertake responsibilities at the Community Integration Home (CIH) in Savannah, Georgia, which is a state-operated multi-service facility under the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

This facility is committed to providing exceptional care to adults with mental health issues and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities from a wide catchment area in Southeast Georgia.

Established to decentralize mental health services, the facility aims to deliver care closer to the clients' homes and families.

The facility is currently seeking candidates for the role of Client Support Worker on the 2nd shift within the Community Integration Home program.



Key Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, the Client Support Worker will assist residents with daily living activities, monitor behavior, and document observations. Responsibilities include:
  • Providing training in basic personal and social skills, simple academics, or work skills.
  • Maintaining a high standard of care and serving as a role model.
  • Assisting with meal preparation and encouraging group activities.
  • Arranging necessary medical care and supporting the development of individual service plans.
  • Counseling residents on behavioral issues and daily decision-making.
  • Participating in case reviews and collaborating with the team to assess resident needs.
  • Performing housekeeping duties and preparing nutritious meals.
  • Transporting residents to appointments and activities.


Required Skills:
Applicants should possess the following competencies:
  • Ability to observe and monitor participant behavior.
  • Experience in assisting with daily living activities.
  • Capability to develop individualized care plans.
  • Skill in providing training and orientation services.
  • Participation in program planning and staff supervision sessions.


Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
  • One year of experience in social or direct care services to special needs groups.
  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • One year of experience in a lower-level position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or knowledge in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred. Previous experience in residential or healthcare settings is also beneficial.
