The Opportunity
Our Protein Assay Development team is looking for a Lead Protein Scientist to play a crucial role in our biologics drug development initiatives. We seek individuals who are critical thinkers with a strong desire to learn and adapt to new methodologies. This role requires flexibility and the capacity to excel in a dynamic environment.
This Lead Scientist will engage in various projects and experiments within our laboratory, focusing primarily on high-throughput screening, quality control, lab automation, and the optimization of protocols and methods.
Key Responsibilities:
Method Development:
- Design, develop, and execute experimental protocols aimed at enhancing protein expression, purification, and analytical methods.
- Analyze experimental data and interpret results to refine procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optimized methods into standard workflows.
Protein Quality Assurance:
- Conduct high-throughput screening and quality control assessments of proteins utilizing diverse biochemical and biophysical techniques.
- Develop and validate assays for protein characterization, ensuring high reproducibility and accuracy standards.
- Maintain meticulous records of experimental data, ensuring comprehensive documentation of procedures, observations, and results.
- Communicate findings effectively to the team, providing clear reports that support informed decision-making.
Laboratory Automation:
- Operate and maintain advanced automated laboratory equipment for high-throughput protein production and analysis, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
- Manage cutting-edge instruments and complex workflows, troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
- Develop and implement automation protocols to enhance laboratory efficiency and throughput.
- Troubleshoot and refine automated workflows to ensure consistent and reliable performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology or a related discipline.
- 5-6 years of experience in high-throughput screening and automation.
- Familiarity with laboratory automation tools and software.
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Knowledge of protein purification techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in designing and implementing robotic systems for laboratory automation.
Preferred:
- Experience with Benchling software.
- Familiarity with cell-free expression systems.
