MCMILLAN LAW FIRM is seeking a dedicated Legal Support Specialist to assist in managing personal injury cases. This role involves providing a comprehensive range of legal services under the guidance of experienced attorneys.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support and customer service within the legal environment.
  • Assisting paralegals in preparing for trials and court proceedings.
  • Handling phone inquiries and welcoming clients, while ensuring accurate fact-checking and compiling case evidence.
  • Coordinating with court personnel to verify court schedules.
  • Managing essential administrative tasks such as filing, legal terminology, data entry, and utilizing office technology.
  • Organizing and maintaining case files and documents for attorney review.
  • Scheduling meetings with clients, witnesses, and other relevant parties, while gathering necessary information.

Essential Duties

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively carry out the following:

  • Collaborate with paralegals and clients to discuss case details.
  • Assist in drafting legal documents, including pleadings and motions, and ensure proper filing according to judicial protocols.
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal statutes, regulations, and judicial decisions, providing written summaries to paralegals.
  • Interview clients and witnesses, preparing concise summaries of their statements.
  • Prepare and manage case files, ensuring all records are organized and accessible.
  • Support paralegals in trial preparations, which may include attending hearings.
  • Handle client billing and settlement distributions, assisting with invoice management.
  • Collect and organize medical documentation for assigned clients.
  • Maintain law practice management software and assist with e-filing motions.
  • Provide general administrative support to paralegals and maintain clear communication with clients.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an office setting.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • An Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or four years of direct experience working under an attorney's supervision.
  • A Paralegal Certificate.
  • Experience in personal injury law.
  • Prior experience in a legal environment.
