Job Title: Oncology Nurse Clinician

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a skilled Oncology Nurse Clinician to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary care team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of delivering world-class healthcare.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and reassess patients and families for ongoing care needs, identifying high-risk criteria and initiating timely referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Collect and analyze data, coordinating multidisciplinary care and appointments for new patients.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create a plan of care that indicates collaboration and communication.
  • Serve as a resource to non-clinical staff regarding prospective patients calling the program for information.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
  • Identify learning needs, abilities, preferences, and readiness, making referrals as appropriate.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnosis, process, therapies, and testing.
  • Assist with transitions of care and providers.
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with other team members, demonstrating respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines.
  • Delegate appropriately to other care providers to facilitate meeting patient needs in a timely manner.
  • Promote a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrate an interest in personal development and growth beyond routine expected educational sessions.
  • Embrace new employees and care team members, contributing to their growth and learning.
  • Attain knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice through participation in ongoing educational activities.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program with an RN License in the state of Illinois.
  • Current nursing experience within the past 5 years.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Oncology Certified Nurse.
