About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at ITW. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the conceptualization and development of new products using both AC and DC power processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, and other departments to develop new products to meet the changing needs of Buehler's internal and external customers
  • Develop risk assessments (Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Safety Risk Assessments) on product designs and assist in developing solutions to mitigate risk
  • Create test procedures, oversee testing, and analyze results
  • Collaborate with purchasing, sourcing, and quality teams to design and qualify solutions for obsolete components
  • Work with teams to release products to production involving design for manufacturing, documentation for PCBA, and documentation to release and deviations
  • Update and revise documentation and engineering drawings. Prepare and submit engineering change notices
  • Collaborate with software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering to support Buehler's existing product lines to ensure they can be consistently, and cost-effectively produced as well as ensure they continue to meet the needs and expectations of our customers
  • Support the development of quality, manufacturing, and supplier inspection procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in designing circuit boards (layout + schematics)
  • Comprehensive understanding of designing and testing in compliance with regulatory and safety standards such as CE, UL, and IEEE
  • Experience in analog + digital signal designs; experience in the use of microcontrollers is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in power circuitries, motor controls, and sensors
  • Experience creating schematics with OrCAD or Altium
  • Experience working with Microsoft Navision and Microsoft SharePoint is a plus
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within project teams, ensuring timely completion of tasks
  • Creative problem-solving mindset with the curiosity to understand design and process failures with the help of the team
  • Ability to combine an analytical approach with a hands-on mentality
  • Ability to work on-site in Lake Bluff, IL with occasional flexibility to work from home
