Job Title: Optometric Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Optometric Technician to join our team at Vitreous-Retina-Macula Consultants of New York PC. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in delivering top-notch eye care services.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preliminary patient screenings, including obtaining ocular and medical history, visual acuity measuring, and intraocular pressure.
  • Perform diagnostic testing, such as OCT, Optos, VF, and Oculus.
  • Assist with office flow to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean and organized exam room.
  • Teach patients proper contact lens insertion and removal techniques.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and Nextech MDI is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with slit lamp microscopes and basic patient work-ups.
  • Working knowledge of eye anatomy, retina disease, and ocular medications.
