Job Summary

The Earth Science Educator will be responsible for teaching Earth and Space Science to students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for teaching and learning, and will be able to create engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.

  • Classroom Management and Organization
    • Maintain a safe, caring, and orderly classroom environment that promotes inclusion and respect.

  • Assessment and Evaluation
    • Analyze data from ongoing formative and summative assessments to refine instructional practices and impact student achievement.
    • Grade student work and provide actionable feedback to students.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • Bachelor's degree in Earth Science, Education, or a related field.
    • New York State Teaching Certification in Earth Science (grades 7-12).
  • Experience and Skills
    • Prior teaching experience in an urban school setting is preferred.
    • Dual certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or Students with Disabilities is a plus.
