Position Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a crucial role in caring for patients with end-stage renal disease, assisting clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process to ensure the delivery of prescribed therapies. Our PCTs are vital members of the interdisciplinary team, dedicated to providing safe care and achieving the highest quality outcomes for every patient.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, requiring 4 days of work per week, with Sundays off and no overnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities

As a Patient Care Technician, you can expect to:

  • Actively engage in infection control, risk management, and patient education efforts
  • Guide new patients through a comprehensive 120-day education plan
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and machine readings during treatments
  • Work under the supervision of registered nurses
  • Prepare and dismantle dialysis blood systems for treatment
  • Insert and remove patient access needles
  • Observe patients during dialysis, documenting any changes and communicating concerns to the charge nurse
  • Calculate patient weight loss to achieve dry weight
  • Prioritize patient care tasks and organize workload effectively
  • Maintain professional relationships while respecting patient privacy and rights
  • Manage and track inventory
  • Conduct laboratory work as required

Qualifications

Education and Training

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with prior dialysis experience. Dialysis Clinic, Inc. offers a comprehensive 3-month training program, including classroom sessions and one-on-one skills training.
