Piping Engineering Supervisor Job Description

This Piping Engineering Supervisor will oversee a remote team of piping designers and checkers hired by Insight Global. The supervisor will be responsible for scoping work, creating and managing team schedules, meeting piping deadlines, and leading the design and checking process. The piping diagrams and designs will be created and checked in 3D and 2D AutoCad, as well as ShipConstructor. The supervisor will also manage design specs of the piping systems and ensure they are NAVSEA compliant in Navis, ShipConstructor, and AutoCad. Designs made by designers will be passed to Senior 3D Checkers who will ensure drawings meet Navy Specs that will in turn be approved for the build process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the maritime shipbuilding industry and has managed a piping team as a prime on a Navy contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a remote team of piping designers and checkers
  • Scope work and create team schedules
  • Meet piping deadlines
  • Lead the design and checking process
  • Manage design specs of piping systems
  • Ensure NAVSEA compliance
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience with piping design or checking designs on Navy ships
  • 10+ years of piping management managing remote designers/checkers
  • Ability to scope out dates and meet deadlines provided by NAVSEA
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D AutoCAD, MS Office, and MS Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ShipConstructor and Navis experience within the piping concentration
  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering concentration
