The Advanced R&D Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in a laboratory environment, undertaking responsibilities related to the qualification and testing of products to ensure compliance with industry standards. This position adheres to established protocols and conducts testing as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement analytical methodologies and testing protocols in line with documented procedures.
- Operate and maintain analytical equipment.
- Manage sample processes, including receipt, labeling, and preparation for analysis.
- Determine and set up necessary laboratory apparatus for experiments and evaluations.
- Assist in the formulation and/or assessment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), testing methods, and protocols.
- Provide laboratory assistance and support project leaders in product development initiatives and non-clinical laboratory research.
- Diagnose instrument malfunctions and testing discrepancies.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures as outlined by the organization's Quality Management System.
- Document and record test results accurately.
- Train fellow laboratory staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laboratory.
- Oversee inventory management and procurement of laboratory supplies as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline. An associate degree may be acceptable with relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
- Experience in medical device testing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with analytical test method development is beneficial.
- Ability to operate under moderate technical supervision and independently execute operational tasks is essential.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards is required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Physical capability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment:
This position is situated in a manufacturing setting where exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials may occur. The role involves frequent exposure to odors, fumes, dust, and airborne particles, as well as moving mechanical components and vibrations. The noise level in the workplace can be elevated.
The physical demands of this role require the employee to communicate effectively, stand, walk, use hands for handling tasks, and reach with arms regularly. Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10% may be required.
