Job Summary

The Physical Therapist will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Physical Therapist will work with patients who suffer from back and neck injuries, fractures, neurological disorders, surgery recovery, joint replacements, work or sports-related injuries, and other conditions to improve their movement and manage their pain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care, reviews patients' medical histories, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists.
  • Diagnoses patients by observing their movements and listening to their concerns.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and maintenance.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Outlines clear goals for patients and the expected outcomes of the plan.
  • Uses exercises, stretching, equipment, and hands-on therapy to manage patients' pain, increase mobility, and prevent further pain and injury.
  • Records patients' progress and modifies the plan of care if needed.
  • Reviews patients' functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans and updates accordingly.
  • Educates patients and family members about the recovery process.
  • Works collaboratively with professionals from many other disciplines.
  • Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
  • Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients' functional goals.
  • Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Administers prevocational programs to prepare patients to return to or enter a work or school setting.
  • Practices company and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops while keeping up to date on professional literature.
  • Provides direction and leadership to staff and acts as a resource to promote physical therapy in the community.
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree of Physical Therapy (minimum).
  • Current license from the state Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
  • Active state license in Physical Therapy.
Physical Requirements
  • Duties require extensive standing and walking.
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
  • Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
