Position Overview

Nevada State University invites applications for the role of Student Worker - Academic Advising Center. The student workers will deliver exceptional customer service support to Nevada State students while acting as the primary point-of-contact for all inquiries, scheduling, and communications directed to the Academic Advising Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Report to the Director and Administrative Assistant.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, text messages, and live chats directed to the office.
  • File and upload documents into student accounts.
  • Make copies of Academic Advising documents.
  • Welcome office visitors, address inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate office(s) or individual(s).
  • Perform data entry into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
  • Propose suggestions for streamlining processes or tasks involving the Academic Advising Center.
  • Complete other administrative duties or special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must maintain good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor are required.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Work Hours:

This position typically starts at 10-12 hours per week in the first semester, with the potential to increase up to the maximum hours in subsequent semesters, depending on office budget. Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$12.00 per hour.
