About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Supervisor to join our team at Presbyterian Homes, a leading provider of senior living care services. As a Nursing Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and leading a team of nursing professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to nursing services and employee relations.
  • Conduct regular rounds to assess patient needs, evaluate quality of care, and provide guidance to nursing staff as needed.
  • Serve as a consultant, advisor, and resource person for nursing staff on assigned shifts.
  • Function as the primary point of contact for residents, physicians, families, and visitors, addressing concerns and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Interpret and implement Presbyterian Homes' nursing policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and adherence across the organization.
  • Assist with staffing scheduling and handle staffing emergencies for assigned shifts.
  • Assign nursing personnel and adjust assignments based on patient acuity and staff capabilities.
  • Enter pertinent resident information, including admission, discharge, falls, and skin issues, on the 24-hour report.
  • Document staffing issues and concerns on the 24-hour report.
  • Assist in orienting and evaluating new nursing personnel, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Participate in performance evaluations of staff assigned to shifts, providing constructive feedback and recommendations for growth and development.
  • Counsel staff as needed, addressing performance concerns and recommending disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and other nursing management personnel to ensure 24-hour continuity of care and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Work with the Director of Nursing to identify and fulfill the educational needs of staff assigned to shifts, promoting ongoing professional development and growth.
  • Evaluate accidents, injuries, and emergencies, providing appropriate follow-up and ensuring the well-being of residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Utilize standard functions within software and basic computer operations to enhance efficiency in resident/patient service, assessment, and clinical documentation.
  • Complete all assigned computer education modules in a timely fashion, staying up-to-date with the latest technology and software.
  • Aware of Presbyterian Homes' Corporate Compliance policies, including confidentiality and security of information, and demonstrate behaviors consistent with these policies.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved registered professional nursing program, with a BSN or equivalent preferred.
  • Active, current Illinois license to practice professional nursing and current CPR certification.
  • Three years of experience as a staff nurse in the acute setting with adult patients or long-term care experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Regular bending, walking, lifting, or moving patients and/or equipment weighing over 50 pounds, with the use of good body mechanics.
