Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Wildlife Program Assistant to join our team at the Shaver's Creek Environmental Center at Penn State University. As a key member of our team, you will support the essential operations of the Wildlife Program, including diet preparation, husbandry, water tests, facility maintenance, and record keeping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and ensure completion of daily tasks within the Aviary and Herpetarium
  • Assist students in completion of daily tasks of the Wildlife Care & Conservation Career Program
  • Develop new skills in wildlife care and conservation under the support of full-time staff
Requirements
  • Effective knowledge - no experience is required, as you will be trained in all aspects of the position
  • Accountability and self-management - ability to manage time effectively to accomplish time-sensitive tasks
  • Teamwork and leadership - ability to work with a variety of staff and educational operations
  • Communication - ability to communicate with full-time staff to prioritize tasks and workload
  • Innovation and problem-solving - ability to address welfare and husbandry concerns, frequent changes in weather, and other unforeseen events
