About the Unit
The 6 South Surgical Unit is a 32-bed facility dedicated to the post-operative care of patients undergoing abdominal surgeries. In this role, you will collaborate closely with surgeons and surgical residents, fostering a supportive and friendly environment. Our unit emphasizes teamwork and open communication, ensuring a collaborative relationship with multidisciplinary team members, including case management, physical and occupational therapy, dieticians, and social work.
Work Environment
We promote professional autonomy and a multicultural atmosphere, supported by certified preceptors and a well-structured environment. You will encounter a diverse range of patients, enhancing your nursing experience and assessment skills. The unit is equipped with 8 telemetry beds for patients requiring cardiac monitoring following surgery.
Responsibilities
As a Nursing Assistant, you will:
- Assist licensed nursing staff in delivering direct patient care.
- Help maintain the nursing unit's environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Attend to the personal care and safety needs of patients promptly.
- Ensure an orderly unit environment with adequate supplies and equipment.
- Facilitate the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients in accordance with established policies.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required.
- Previous experience in a hospital or nursing home setting is preferred.
- Current CNA certification is preferred.
