Union Status: L5 or L7. This is a union position.
Annual Salary Range: L5 = $84,077-$133,688 and L7 = $109,313-$147,056. The salary for this role will be based on a step scale and will be determined by a candidate's years of relevant experience related to the position, as well as their office of record.
Travel: Up to 30%
FLSA Status: Exempt/Full-Time

About Lambda Legal
Lambda Legal is a national advocacy organization dedicated to achieving full recognition of civil rights for the LGBTQ+ community and individuals living with HIV through impactful litigation, educational initiatives, and public policy efforts. Our clients receive legal representation and advocacy at no cost, and we do not accept government funding.
Role Overview
The NTRP Attorney is responsible for engaging in public policy development, advocacy, public education, and impact litigation aimed at defending and advancing the civil rights of transgender, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Analysis and Advocacy
- Evaluate legislative and administrative policy proposals affecting the rights of TGNCNB individuals across various government levels.
- Draft testimony and comments on proposed legislation, regulations, and other public policy initiatives.
- Create model legislation, regulations, and administrative guidance.
- Engage with government agencies and officials; provide counsel to policymakers in diverse contexts.
- Collaborate closely with the Nonbinary and Transgender Rights Project Director and other Legal department members.
- Counteract state-level policy challenges by partnering with colleagues to provide analysis and support for issue campaigns.
- Build and enhance advocacy and community partnerships.
- Offer expertise and support to national and state-based organizations involved in advocacy.
Public Education and Outreach
- Produce documents and publications, including "Know Your Rights" materials.
- Participate in public speaking engagements and write for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with the Nonbinary and Transgender Rights Project Director.
- Represent Lambda Legal at conferences and other gatherings.
Impact Litigation
- Monitor and evaluate legal theories and litigation strategies.
- Identify and nurture litigation opportunities.
- Provide amicus curiae support through brief writing and coordination.
- Conduct litigation in appellate courts or administrative proceedings.
Qualifications:
- Proven legal writing and oral communication skills.
- Experience in policy advocacy is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to addressing the concerns of TGNCNB individuals.
- Willingness to travel as required for the position.
