Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Public Records Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating requests made pursuant to Wisconsin Public Records laws, ensuring compliance with district policy and applicable statutes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fulfill requests for access to district records, including gathering and analyzing records for appropriate public access.
  • Review documents under district policy and Wisconsin Public Records law for release to the public.
  • Prepare documentation for, and draft responses to public records requests, including determining legal rationale for public access.
  • Ensure released materials do not contain information exempted under the applicable statutes or other non-releasable information.
  • Maintain complete and detailed notes on all assigned cases.
  • Support the work of the Milwaukee Public Schools' Record Management Advisory Committee.
  • Actively support the MPS Strategic Plan.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in library science, business administration, public policy, accounting, or a related field is desired.
  • Demonstrated progress toward attaining a relevant degree is also acceptable.
  • Two to four years of experience in the public sector or legal environments is required.
  • Proficiency in technical or legal writing is essential.
