Position Summary: The role involves assisting the lead instructor with various classroom activities; overseeing student work groups, and executing additional tasks as assigned by the instructor or administration. Responsibilities may include substituting for the instructor and coordinating student clinical training at external locations. Non-instructional tasks encompass material development, clerical duties, grading assignments, equipment maintenance, and managing student behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

Work is conducted under the general supervision of the administration. The individual in this role may be expected to perform any or all of the following tasks:

1. Instructional Support

  1. Prepare instructional materials and set up equipment under the instructor's guidance.
  2. Assist students who may struggle with the content presented by the instructor.
  3. Work with individuals or small groups on follow-up tasks as directed by the instructor.
  4. Provide instruction to students who were absent during the original lesson.
  5. Help the instructor prepare for daily lessons and specialized instructional units.

2. Student Management

  1. Supervise student groups in both classroom and clinical environments.
  2. Occasionally substitute for the instructor when necessary.
  3. Organize and oversee student clinical experiences.
  4. Administer examinations as required.
  5. Monitor students engaged in assigned study and learning activities.
  6. Enforce behavioral standards and refer violations to the instructor or appropriate administrators.
  7. Collaborate with the instructor on program objectives and instructional strategies.
  8. Utilize counseling resources, with the instructor's approval, to support student behavior improvement.

3. Record Keeping

  1. Maintain accurate records of student grades and attendance.
  2. Assist in compiling competency profiles based on observed student performance.
  3. Grade assignments and tests using provided keys and standards.
  4. Coordinate with the instructor regarding supplies and equipment needs.
  5. Document daily student activities and maintain necessary records.
  6. Prepare educational materials and manage inventory.

4. Safety Protocols

  1. Report any accidents or unsafe conditions to the instructor or administration.
  2. Adhere to established safety procedures to maintain a secure classroom environment.

5. Equipment Maintenance

  1. Conduct routine cleaning and minor repairs of classroom equipment.
  2. Assist the instructor with major repairs and maintenance tasks.

6. Inventory Management

  1. Collaborate with the instructor to complete inventory assessments.

7. Additional Responsibilities

  1. Assume the instructor's role when necessary.
  2. Participate in school events and conferences as required.
  3. Regular and predictable in-person attendance is essential for this position.
  4. Perform various other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess either: (1) a high school diploma or equivalent with 4,000 hours of relevant paid experience in healthcare within the last decade, or (2) at least 60 semester hours of credit from an accredited institution. Preference may be given to those with a Michigan nursing license or relevant certifications. Evidence of education and experience must be included with the application.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid Michigan health professional license is required. Candidates must also have a valid Michigan driver's license and a clean driving record.
