Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients, including assessing their respiratory status, developing and implementing treatment plans, and educating patients and families on respiratory health.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop treatment plans to address patient needs.
- Provide respiratory therapy education to patients and families, including instruction on the use of respiratory equipment and medications.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators and oxygen therapy devices.
- Perform bedside pulmonary function studies and other diagnostic tests as ordered by physicians.
- Develop and implement weaning protocols for patients on mechanical ventilation.
- Provide emergency airway care, including intubation and ventilation management.
- Assist in the transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
- Administer oxygen and humidification therapy as ordered by physicians.
- Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and provide care according to ACLS/BCLS standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Certificate of completion from an accredited respiratory therapist program required.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LIC-RT) in NY State required.
- Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (CER-RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Advanced and Basic Life Support certification required.
