Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients, including assessing respiratory function, developing treatment plans, and implementing ventilator management protocols.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop treatment plans to address patient needs.
- Implement ventilator management protocols, including weaning and adjusting parameters as needed.
- Provide patient and family education on respiratory care and disease management.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Perform bedside pulmonary function studies and collect blood for PH gas analysis.
- Implement bronchial hygiene and airway care procedures, including physical chest therapy.
- Assist in Pulmonary Stress Testing and transport mechanically ventilated patients.
- Administer oxygen and humidification therapy as ordered and monitor gas exchange via non-invasive measures.
- Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and render care as per ACLS/BCLS standards.
- Provide emergent airway care, including intubation, as per department policy.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Certificate of completion from an accredited respiratory therapist program required.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LIC-RT) in NY State required.
- Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (CER-RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Advanced and Basic Life Support certification required.
