Position Summary
The role of the Production Operator involves overseeing and managing the operational aspects of plant machinery utilized in the production process. The operator assesses the operational condition of the equipment and engages in troubleshooting to enhance the reliability and quality of production. Responsibilities include documenting various operational metrics and maintaining effective communication with team members and other departments. Additionally, operators are responsible for monitoring maintenance tasks and executing minor repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety protocols to ensure zero safety incidents, including participation in safety discussions and audits.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment on a daily basis.
- Conduct changeovers and perform disassembly, assembly, and cleaning of machinery.
- Understand and implement daily production schedules, address quality concerns, and report unresolved issues promptly.
- Prepare packaging areas, manually lift and load materials weighing 55 lbs or more, and package finished products for distribution.
- Utilize forklifts to move raw materials and finished goods to designated locations.
- Employ hand tools for effective material handling.
- Manage waste disposal and maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Handle raw materials, including organizing, weighing, and measuring.
- Follow standard operating procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols for all tasks.
- Conduct standard quality control tests and accurately document production data.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment as required.
- Ensure a tidy work environment and proper storage of tools and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 6 months of experience in a production or manufacturing role; mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends on short notice.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required at the time of application.
- Must pass pre-employment screenings, including employment verification, background checks, and drug tests.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine correspondence, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math and computer skills; experience with SAP is a plus.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety procedures.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members.
- Strong multitasking skills and reliable attendance record.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for up to 12 hours.
- Physical capabilities include walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, twisting, and lifting at least 55 lbs.
- Must comply with respiratory fit testing requirements.
- Work in various indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, dust, strong odors, and noise, while using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights of 300 ft or more, and in confined spaces.
- Required PPE includes long pants, long sleeves, steel-toed boots, gloves, hard hats, safety goggles, earplugs, and respirators.
