Our clients predominantly speak Spanish and include youth from Central America, Mexico, and various African backgrounds. We encourage applicants from all experience levels and offer extensive training and leadership development opportunities.
In light of ongoing health considerations, our staff is currently operating remotely. However, there may be occasions when in-person attendance at court hearings and immigration interviews is necessary. The expectation is that all staff will return to the office when it is deemed safe.
Key Responsibilities:- Conducting legal assessments, client consultations, and thorough investigations; advising clients, formulating case strategies, and engaging in both oral and written advocacy to represent minors in immigration matters, particularly in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, Asylum, and T and U visa cases.

- Advocating for children’s rights through community outreach and presentations aimed at families, schools, and local organizations.
- Serving as a representative of the organization in local and national coalitions and collaborative efforts as necessary.
- Active membership in the California State Bar. Candidates awaiting bar exam results may be considered, with hiring contingent upon passing the exam and being sworn in.
- Fluency in Spanish is essential.
- Strong research, analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- A deep commitment to advocating for youth rights.
- Ability to respond promptly and effectively to the demands of a dynamic caseload.
- Well-organized, self-motivated, creative, and capable of working collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
- Dedication to providing services with cultural sensitivity and an approach that respects diversity in race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, socio-economic status, immigration status, and criminal history.
- Experience in immigration law practice.
- Background working with children who have faced trauma.
- Capacity to perform efficiently under pressure and in crisis situations.
The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), retirement savings contributions, and generous paid leave policies (vacation, sick leave, holidays, and sabbaticals). A flexible spending account for qualified health expenses is also available.
Application Process:Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, a brief writing sample, and contact information for three references. In your cover letter, please address how your personal experiences and background have prepared you to contribute to our commitment to cultural humility and diversity within our organization.
