Job Summary

The Reserve Police Officer position is a vital part of our law enforcement team, responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and preventing and suppressing crime. As a Reserve Police Officer, you will be an integral part of our community policing efforts, working closely with the public to build trust and ensure public safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exercise authority in accordance with state laws, local bylaws, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist all persons in need of police assistance.
  • Observe, report, and act upon conditions conducive to crime and danger.
  • Investigate crimes, interview witnesses and suspects, and collect and document evidence.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed reports.
  • Testify in court as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of police-related equipment.
  • Perform special assignments related to investigations, crime prevention, and traffic enforcement.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
  • Pass a drug and background investigation.
  • Completed approved reserve officer academy or police academy.
  • Volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per month.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable MVR.
Working Environment and Physical Demands

Work may be performed in an office setting or in the field, and may require the operation of a vehicle during the course of the work day to conduct field operations, respond to emergency situations, or attend meetings in a variety of weather conditions and in emergency situations. Work exposes the employee to extreme heat/cold weather and life-threatening conditions. Protective equipment such as bullet-proof vest, nightstick, and a weapon are worn.
