Job Title: Director of Development

Mid-America Arts Alliance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our senior management team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading our fundraising efforts and securing contributed income from private sources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sustain the Development division by securing funding for our local, regional, and national programming.
  • Provide oversight of the Development division and manage a team of staff members.
  • Research, identify, and cultivate private and public funds to support our mission.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development plan to meet our short- and long-term fundraising goals.
  • Collaborate with the President and CEO to determine funding priorities and track trends in development and philanthropy.
  • Organize the department's work to ensure efficient and accurate production of grant proposals and funding requests.
  • Communicate with funders to keep them informed of our work and follow up with them when proposals are declined.
  • Work with board members to identify and cultivate potential funders and assist with annual campaign solicitation.
  • Monitor and track all contributed revenue in detail and review and edit funding proposals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in grant writing and research.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Working Conditions:

This is a hybrid work position with the flexibility to routinely work remotely. You must be located in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Most work is sedentary, with sitting at a desk using a computer, phone, and other office equipment. However, you will occasionally travel to attend Board meetings and other organization and community events.
