Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented Automated Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and upkeep of sophisticated automation systems tailored for commercial environments. Your expertise will enable the integration of various systems, including HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management, fostering efficient and intelligent operational settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and design automation systems in alignment with client specifications and industry best practices.
  • Integrate diverse building systems such as HVAC, lighting, security, access control, fire safety, and energy management into a cohesive platform.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and facility managers to ascertain building requirements, technical limitations, and user expectations.
  • Produce comprehensive system design documentation, including architecture layouts, wiring schematics, and control sequences.
  • Partner with vendors to guarantee the effective use and functionality of components.
  • Program automation controllers, sensors, actuators, and related devices to meet desired operational outcomes.
  • Generate detailed system schematics and hardware/software point lists for the Graphics Engineer based on design documentation.
  • Create performance validation documentation for the operational team.
  • Conduct on-site commissioning of automation systems to verify proper operation and compliance with project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to the operational team.
  • Offer technical support and training to end-users, including facility managers and maintenance personnel.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deadlines established by project management.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulations pertaining to building automation systems.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Assist the BAS Service Team with routine system maintenance, upgrades, and software/firmware enhancements to optimize performance and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals, cost assessments, and timelines for automation initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant certifications or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining building automation systems; familiarity with ACAD, Niagara, and Distech is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management systems.
  • Proficiency in building automation protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
  • Understanding of building codes, regulations, and energy efficiency standards.
