Job Summary

We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Assistant Plant Operator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for monitoring and operating boilers and auxiliary plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Plant Operator in daily operations and maintenance of the plant, investigating changes in instrument readings and equipment operation.
  • Make required turbine/generator APC and other critical inspections, recognizing and mitigating operating difficulties.
  • Document plant activities, maintaining logs and written documentation on schedule with clear, accurate, and legible writing.
  • Operate demineralization systems, performing water testing and treatment using knowledge of boiler water chemistry.
  • With guidance, operate APC systems, adjusting parameters to ensure system performance meets facility standards.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
  • Complete Corporate and Plant Training Programs within prescribed timeframes.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree or equivalent desirable
  • 2 years working in a power plant operation or 3 years related experience
  • Mechanical skills sufficient for varied mechanical tasks
  • Knowledge and understanding of steam generating power plant operations
  • Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating effectively with colleagues and management.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental, and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies
  • Massachusetts 3rd Engineer's and Massachusetts Hoisting License: 1D / 2C or ability to obtain within 9 months of hire
